I'm so excited to announce a partner on this blogging journey to help add a new perspective to Disney Trippin! My friend Tanshyle and her husband Matt are Annual Passholders at Disneyland and visit frequently with their 7 kids! I've asked her to share their wisdom with us when traveling with kids because 4 out of 5 times, I leave my kids at home. I thought it would be a great benefit for all to have both perspectives. So... to get us started we have both compiled a list of the top 10 things we always carry with us in the park. Now I didn't looked at Tanshyle's list until I had mine completed because I didn't want to cheat. So let's see how we compared!!
M#1: Loungfly backpack! I need something cute (and disney themed, of course) to carry all the things ;)
M#2: Silicone straws! I NEED my caffein and the paper straws they use in the park really put a damper on my sippin so I pack my own
M#3: External Battery. Previously I carried a few small batteries and had to charge at night, but have since switched to using the FuelRods from the park. You can get them here before your trip much cheaper than in the park and unlimited free exchanges
M#4: Butt Powder!! This is a MUST! Get a travel size to keep with you and apply throughout the day. You can thank me later. This is my favorite
M#5: Trading Pins. I was once VERY into pin trading so i have a lot hanging around. Now each trip I take a handful to trade or i give them out to small kids I see in line or even at McDonalds before before going into the park. I hate to see an empty lanyard and it's so fun to see them smile when I tell them to pick a pin
M#6: Good shoes. This should be at the top of the list but a good pair of shoes for me is a tight shoe with a soft sole. I find compression really keeps me on my feet all day.
M#7: Hand Sanitizer & Lotion. I'm only a germaphobe when it comes to busy places and touching railings or ride handlebars that have been touched by 1000's of people. I'm also a lotion fanatic and need it after every hand wash. Having a couple travel size options is super easy to carry all day
M#8: Ziplock baggies. When you just can't finish that cookie or you want to take that rice crispy treat home with you, you need something to store it in.
M#9: Handheld Fan/portable heater. Having a portable fan can be a real lifesaver on a smoldering day and also the flip side, a hand warmer in the cold months (or sometimes both)
M#10: Mickey Ear Headbands! Gotta have 'em but if you plan on wearing them, don't forget the Ibuprofen lol
T#1: Body Glide. Put it on everyone’s feet before anyone puts their shoes on in the morning. Keep it in the bag just in case anyone has any other issues.
T#2: BandAids
T#3: Sunscreen/Aquaphor – We bring Aquaphor because after day or so of extra handwashing and hand sanitizing, the kids’ hands start to get really dry.
T#4: Wipes/Diapers – We like to have wipes in bags even if we’re there without a baby.
T#5: Changes of socks – This helps if shoes get wet on wet rides plus, we’ve had kids actually wear a hole in their sock during a trip.
T#6: Water bottle
T#7: Battery packs/cords – This has become even more important now that we have teens.
T#8: Ibuprofen/Children’s Ibuprofen
T#9: Snacks – Over the years, we’ve packed less and less snacks because we just can’t pack in enough for everyone. This isn’t an issue for smaller families. We’re at a point where we just bite the bullet and buy snacks in the park.
T#10: Empty Ziploc Bags – You’ll want somewhere to store wet socks, half eaten treats, small knickknacks children collect (we have a few rock collectors), etc. They don’t weigh anything or take up much space but can be the ultimate lifesaver.
As you can see our lists vary a bit and hopefully gives you an idea for a few things that you definitely need for the long days in the park!
Is there something on your list that we should have in ours?? Let us know in the comments
