I get this question a lot, “we are going to Disney World, we’re wondering if you have some tips?” Uhm, yes. Yes I do. I have loads so I thought I’d break it down here so it’s easy to refer back to. I like to break it down by park and please comment if there’s something you like to do that makes your day easier when in the parks 🙌🏻
(I wrote this before the Genie+ was in place so this is a great place to start if you are not planning on using the Genie+ options)
Animal kingdom: head straight for the Avatar ride, the line gets long fast and that’s where everyone will go first. Follow that with the Safari ride because it gets longer too. The characters will float down the River on boats so watch for those. Explore around the Tree of Life, it’s pretty cool 😉
Epcot: just start on one side and work your way around the countries. Canada has a movie that you will think you can pass up but watch it anyway, it’s a good one and narrated by Cathrine O’Hare and Gene Levi from Schitts Creek.
Use the map so you don’t miss any rides. The Frozen ride in Norway is fun and there’s a ride in Mexico too;)
Soarin is in a building with another ride called Living Off the Planet. It was really cool to see the green houses and there are a ton of hidden mickeys if little ones get bored.
Hollywood Studios: When you get into the park go straight for Mickey & Minnies Runaway Railway. The line gets long and it is mostly outdoors. When you are in line look at mobile ordering lunch at Woody’s Lunchbox. The times fill up so you have to plan ahead for that one. There are a lot of big fun rides in this park so you just have to watch the wait times and see what is shortest and go there. Tower of Terror is a can’t miss and if you like a fast coaster make sure to do Rockin’ Rollin roller coaster. It’s fast and in the dark 👍🏼 like a mix of Space Mountain and Incredicoaster.
Magic Kingdom has a lot of the same stuff as Disneyland so look for things that are not in Cali. Their Big Thunder is a little different, The Carousel of Progress is from a World Fair and interesting to check out. The jungle cruise has been redone, they still have The Country Bears Jamboree, it’s kinda funny with some hidden jokes the little ones might miss 😉
Familarize yourself with the “My Disney Experience” app, it is super useful! While on the map screen you can change the search at the top. Search for Dining, wait times, restrooms, transportation and more!
If you take an Uber or shuttle to Magic Kingdom you may be dropped off at the TTC (Transportation and Ticket Center) you can take a boat, monorail or shuttle to Magic Kingdom gates. If you want to upgrade tickets to hoppers or need to pick up tickets- this is where you can do that.
Speaking of transportation, there are lots of ways to get between each park, here’s a quick list:
🎫 TTC: Monorail to Epcot and Magic Kingdom. Shuttles to all parks & Disney Springs. 🚎 Magic Kingdom: Shuttles to all other parks & Disney Springs. Monorail goes to TTC and Epcot. The boats go between here and the TTC
⚪️Epcot: Shuttle to all parks and Disney Springs. Monorail goes to the TTC. Skyliner to Hollywood Studios and a handful of Disney resorts. The boats in Epcot go to Hollywood Studios and some Disney hotels.
🎞Hollywood Studios: Shuttle to all parks and Disney Springs. Skyliner to Epcot and a handful of Disney resorts. You can take a boat to Epcot and neighboring hotels. 🦥 Animal Kingdom: Shuttles to all parks and Disney Springs. 🛍 Disney Springs: Shuttles to all parks
I hope this helps you feel a little more comfortable about your first Disney World trip. I’d love to hear what is most helpful or if you have tips to share, please leave them in the comments 😘
